Products and Airports
Products is an area that incorporates manufacturers of airframe engine and component parts with the syndicate concentrating primarily on the component part sub-contractors. Also included in this class are repair and overhaul organisations who service anything from light aircraft to wide bodied jets.
Airports includes a very diverse cross section of risk, including airport operators, service providers, air-traffic control, aircraft refuellers as well as the construction and maintenance of airports. We are leaders in this class which is written on a global basis.

Rod Dampier

Having begun his underwriting career with Royal Insurance marine department in 1967, Rod moved to the aviation division in 1971. He then joined Aviation and General in 1985, which merged with most other UK composite insurer's aviation departments to form British Aviation Insurance Group (now Global Aviation) in 1991 where he was a senior underwriter until 1997. He then moved to Amlin as the divisional underwriter for the aviation division.
Rod is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Associate Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a member of the LMA Aviation Committee.

Robert Lilley

Robert is the class underwriter of the general aviation portfolio and deputy on the airport and product classes.
Robert began work at Lloyd's in 1987 for Tyser Aviation, Syndicate 173. Tyser Aviation merged in mid 1992 with Murray Lawrence, Syndicate 824, for the 1993 year of account. This group then became part of Amlin in 1998. In addition, Robert is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurer.

James Greenhalgh

James began his insurance career with the broking house Bain Clarkson (now part of Aon) before moving to a Legal & General affiliate as a pensions and investments specialist.
In 1994, James joined the Aviation Underwriting Consortium between Murray Lawrence & Partners and Stewart & Hughman which developed into Syndicate 2001 and Amlin's Aviation Division. During this time James worked on reinsurance and syndicate accounting before becoming an underwriter.
James is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurer.

Andrew Metcalfe

Andrew has worked in the insurance market since 1984 in both the broking and underwriting fields. During this time Andrew has gained experience in all classes of aviation business both as a claims adjuster and an underwriter. Andrew rejoined Amlin in 2007 underwriting Airlines, Products classes with specific responsibility for the General Aviation class.

Anna Dedman

Anna joined the Aviation Market in 1995 and Amlin in May 2006. Previously she was the Deputy Underwriter at Wurtt writing both Airline & Aerospace business. More recently she was an Underwriter at Allianz Marine & Aviation concentrating on writing the Aerospace account. At Amlin Anna underwrites the Products and Airports classes.
