Amlin London strengthens specie team

30 June 2010

Amlin, the leading specialist insurer, has appointed James Farquhar as Leading Class Underwriter, Specie with a brief to build up the account together with Class Underwriter, Rod Little.

James Farquhar joins from Catlin, where his ten-year tenure began as specie underwriter before he was appointed Marine Business Group Leader in 2006. Prior to this, James spent three years with Lloyd-Roberts (syndicate 55) as class underwriter responsible for the specie account, while also assuming responsibility for the political risk and war risk account. James began his 25 year career in insurance as a broker with Lander Eberli Shorter Ltd, followed by the Stewart Wrightson/Willis Faber surety and specie division from 1986 and subsequently in the fine art and specie division of Johnson & Higgins (UK) Limited from 1995 to 1997.

Simon Beale commented, “I am delighted that James is to join Amlin to augment our position in the specie market. His wide experience across the marine market, together with his proven expertise in the specie market, will combine to enhance our specie offering. I have great confidence that James’ arrival will complement the significant knowledge of Rod Little and this combination will take Amlin’s specie account strongly into its next phase.”
