Amlin, the leading independent insurer, has strengthened its in-house investment team with the recent addition of two dedicated Investment Managers, reporting in to Chief Investment Officer, Jayne Styles.

Bonnie Smith has seven years’ experience as a research analyst and is responsible for Amlin‘s external Investment Manager research.  She joined Amlin from Barclays Wealth where she spent four years with the Alternatives team, with responsibility for selecting and monitoring single manager hedge funds for private client portfolios.  Prior to that Bonnie worked for IAM, a London-based fund of hedge funds for three years, with responsibility for conducting due diligence of funds for investment committee approval.

Richard Batley now handles Amlin’s macro research, having joined from RBS Coutts & Co, where he was the senior investment strategy manager responsible for Switzerland, Singapore and Hong Kong and a member of the overall Investment Committee.   His twelve year career also includes three years as European Economist for Schroder Investment Management, one year as UK economist for HBOS and three years as Head of FX reserve management at HM Treasury.

Jayne Styles, Amlin Chief Investment Officer commented: “We run our investments on a multi-asset, multi-manager basis, using tactical overlays when we judge these to be appropriate. With the group’s international expansion and the growth of our funds under management to £2.9 billion and I welcome the opportunity to reinforce our investment management capabilities.”
