The Syndicate 2001 portfolio is one of the most diverse in the
market. We mix attritional and volatile risk, across a wide
geographical spread, with an emphasis on short tail exposure
(business where most claims are notified within 18 months of expiry
of the contract). This diversity means that Amlin is better
positioned to withstand major loss events than smaller, niche
syndicates.
Amlin owns 100% of Syndicate 2001's £825 million
underwriting capacity for 2008. Amlin Bermuda is capitalised at US
$1bn for 2008. Both are highly rated for financial strength by AM
Best and Moody’s, and Amlin Bermuda also by Standard &
Poor's.
