Julian started his market career in 1971 when he worked as a claims broker and then a reinsurance placing broker at Sedgwick Collins. In 1974 he moved across to the company’s underwriting department, which later became Methuen, where he wrote bloodstock business.
In 1992 Julian moved to Hiscox and over twenty years developed the insurers' bloodstock book. In 2011 he joined Amlin's Bloodstock team where he underwrites products for global thoroughbred breeding and racing stock and high value sport horses. Julian is a senior market figure and chairman of the LMA’s Livestock Business Panel.
